In 2016, Bruce Power embarked on a mission to elevate their campus facilities, seeking a balance between functionality and aesthetics. They chose to partner with POI, leveraging our innovative approach to workspace solutions and comprehensive service offerings. This collaboration has played a pivotal role in redefining Bruce Power’s workspace standards, ensuring their facilities evolve to meet the diverse needs of their user groups.
Our scope included outfitting five of the largest buildings on campus with new workstation standards recently expanding to collaborative areas with ancillary solutions. The challenges to address were significant—space planning across 50 buildings, ensuring fire safety compliance, and overcoming the logistical difficulties of Bruce Power’s remote location.
The solutions included tailored workstation typologies, fire-rated furniture, and a reliable monthly truck run with Steelcase products. Consistency, with a dedicated salesperson maintaining a strong customer relationship, despite changes within Bruce Power’s team, has been a crucial ingredient to project success.
Key products such as DIRTT architectural walls, Steelcase Answer workstations, Flex Migration desks, and the Ocular conferencing solutions have been instrumental in enhancing functionality and comfort. Collaboration with firms like Birdd, Marant, and BRC further enriched the solutions provided.
