The Dynamic Office
The Toronto Region Board of Trade faced significant challenges with their existing office space, having outgrown their multi-level office at First Canadian Place after 30 years. They required a dynamic space to host business sessions and events. To address these needs, they opted to relocate to a new building on Queens Quay, chosen for its strategic location and accessibility. In collaboration with SGH Design Partners and Govan Brown, the new space was transformed to meet the Toronto Board of Trade’s vision, which included two floors: one dedicated to working spaces and another designed for events. This ambitious project required a holistic design approach, focusing not only on functionality and aesthetics but also on a future forward sustainable approach.
The project involved reusing and reconfiguring the Toronto Region Board of Trade’s existing Steelcase furniture, highlighting a commitment to sustainability, budget efficiency and Canadian-made products. The flexibility and forward-thinking design of the furniture ensured it remained relevant and functional in the new setting. The events floor featured demountable walls and bespoke meeting room furniture, accommodating various functions with ease. The outdoor terrace was designed with safety and comfort in mind, with wind experts consulted to ensure suitability of furniture in the space. This comprehensive solution not only met the Toronto Board of Trade’s goals but also ensured a future-proofed workspace.
By prioritizing sustainability and innovative design, the Toronto Region Board of Trade has created a workspace that ensures long-term adaptability and functionality. This forward-thinking approach has resulted in a dynamic environment that people want to be a part of.
