POI has supplied products and provided relocation and other facilities services to the City of Mississauga for over 30 years. This long-term relationship started in 1986 when the City first established Steelcase as its corporate standard for workstations and office furnishings. POI has worked closely with management and facilities personnel at the City of Mississauga to evaluate, re-plan, re-stack, refurbish and outfit several office facilities. Over the years, POI has inventoried, packed, moved and unpacked for hundreds of City office relocations, affecting thousands of City staff. In addition to office areas, our project work with City of Mississauga includes public libraries, community centres and fire halls.
Currently, POI Business Interiors and Steelcase are actively involved in the City of Mississauga’s “Office of the Future” project. This initiative focusing on People, Business, Space and Technology, will migrate the City’s work spaces to adaptable, flexible environments and will affect 10 buildings starting in 2020, concluding in 2025.
In 2010, the City of Markham began to outgrow their office space at the Markham Civic Centre, and they needed to incorporate a growing number of employees into a larger space. As an outcome of shifting standards, the City of Markham sought an open plan that would enhance communication.
While Markham’s old office incorporated high panels and closed off workspaces, POI installed low panel systems in the new location to promote inter-connectivity. POI used Steelcase products to furnish the space—including Answer panel systems, task and guest seating from Amia and Move, Turnstone meeting room furniture, and Uno tables and chairs.
As an ongoing client of POI, the City of Markham was extremely pleased with the results offered in the new office setting—improved natural light, better workflow, and enhanced communication through collaborative solutions.
