For Mario Samuels, who’s responsible for converting quotes into orders across multiple sales channels, the details are everything. It’s a role that requires focus, precision, and a deep understanding of POI’s products and systems. But for Mario, it’s the intricacies of his work that keep him engaged day after day.
“I’m the person who takes all the quotes and converts them into orders,” Mario explains. It sounds straightforward, but his role is far from simple. Every quote must be aligned with company policies, product specifications, and client timelines. One of the biggest misconceptions about Mario’s job is that it’s purely administrative. But as he points out, the role requires critical thinking, problem-solving, and a deep understanding of the entire POI system. “People don’t realize the level of knowledge and quality needed,” he explains. “You need to know products, policies, timelines, and systems. It’s not just about inputting data; it’s about making sure everything is accurate.”
What really drives Mario, though, is his passion for detail. “I’m detail-oriented and always have been,” he says with a smile. Whether it’s finding the right specification for a quote or solving a tricky issue, Mario thrives on the precision required for his job. “The minute details are what keep me passionate,” he adds. His love for solving problems and getting everything just right is what makes him such a valuable part of the POI team.
Reflecting on his career, Mario shares that if he could go back, he’d give himself some crucial advice: be more adaptable, seek feedback, and communicate more. “I’d tell myself to look for a mentor and ask for feedback on how I’m doing,” he says. These are lessons he’s learned over time, and they’ve helped shape the way he approaches his work today.
Looking ahead, Mario sees the future of his role evolving alongside advancements in AI and technology. “It’s critical that we stay on the leading edge,” he says. He believes that the operational system will need to become more intuitive and seamless to meet the demands of an increasingly tech-driven world. He also points out a challenge that’s often overlooked in the industry: cybersecurity. “It’s something that could have a critical impact on the company,” he warns, emphasizing the need for continuous training and awareness to protect the company’s systems.
