Throughout a partnership with the City of Mississauga for over 15 years, POI has supplied and installed furniture and workplace products, in addition to providing relocation and facilities services. Throughout the various projects, POI has relocated all members of the City Council, the Mayor, Council Chambers and the Courthouse.

As the City of Mississauga reevaluated and refurbished all of their City Hall space over a three year period, POI facilitated another major project:

In 2008, POI moved approximately 400 people as well as workstations, private office furniture and meeting rooms. During the initial move and the subsequent moves that followed, POI cleaned furniture including seating, panels and benching, in addition to modifying existing furniture to meet updated requirements and standards. With the moves covering approximately 200,000 square feet, POI also conducted a program titled “small move day” to facilitate day-to-day moves and changes within the City of Mississauga.

Most recently in 2010 and 2011, POI installed and furnished 8 renovated Mississauga Community Pools, 4 City Libraries and the Port Credit arena.

In 2010, the City of Markham began to outgrow their office space at the Markham Civic Centre, and they needed to incorporate a growing number of employees into a larger space. As an outcome of shifting standards, the City of Markham sought for an open plan that would enhance communication.

While Markham’s old office incorporated high panels and closed off workspaces, POI installed low panel systems in the new location to promote interconnectivity. POI used Steelcase products to furnish the space—including Answer panel systems, task and guest seating from Amia and Move, Turnstone meeting room furniture, and Uno tables and chairs.

As an ongoing client of POI, the City of Markham was extremely pleased with the results offered in the new office setting—improved natural light, improved workflow, and improved communication through interconnectivity solutions.

Lakeland Power Distribution Ltd.

NEW ADDITION TO LAKELAND’S EXISTING BUILDING (FROM 7/8 YEARS AGO)

Lakeland Power Distribution Ltd. strives to provide a safe environment for employees and to be a “good place to work.” As Lakeland began to incorporate more employees, the company intended to expand their facilities in 2011. The Bracebridge office expansion sought to modernize, upgrade, and bring Lakeland’s facilities into the new millennium.

In addition to preparing a series of budget proposals, POI provided space planning recommendations to address how Lakeland could better utilize their office space and incorporate more employees. POI used Evolve panel systems from Global Contract, Casegoods from Intelligent Office Furniture, and computer support products from Steelcase’s Details.
